Cloudcroft
Perched high in the Sacramento Mountains at nearly 9,000 feet, Cloudcroft was once accessible only by train. In the 1890s, railroad developers were drawn to the majestic mountains and pristine wilderness of the area. They were also intrigued by the way the clouds touched the ground, and thus, Cloudcroft – “a pasture for the clouds” - was born. Today, the town's unique blend of pioneer heritage and contemporary life, attracts thousands of visitors every year, for shopping, hiking, mountain biking, skiing and more.
